Summer-Fall Ango 2026

Ango (安居) is a three-month period of intense training for students of Zen Buddhism, lasting anywhere from 90 to 100 days.

The practice during ango consists of meditation (zazen), study, and work (samu). Practitioners pick one area of practice they would like to intensify during that 3-month period.

At Zen Garland, ango is typically held twice a year, the first period at the beginning of the year and the second period in the fall. The fall ango culminates in Rohatsu sesshin (retreat) in Savannah, GA (November 11-15, 2026).

Ango opening ceremony: Sunday, August 16th, 2025 at 11:00am ET.
