Add New Calendar Events

Due to the covid-19 virus and for the safety and health of all, The Zen Garland Order is suspending all in-person gatherings until further notice. We will, however, continue to work with students individually, gather as Sangha for service and sitting periods, and provide rich-content classes; all online.

The times for events should be entered as U.S. Eastern time zone (UTC−05:00) times. This time will show in the calendar list of events, but when someone views the details of an event it will show as the local time for the visitor — if their device is set to show their location. This time zone information is noted on the calendar pages, so that visitors are notified about this.

This form can be used for special events (gatherings, retreats, courses, workshops), as well as for ongoing classes and meditation sessions.

If you are not an administrator for the ZGO website you will need to provide your name and email. Only official events submitted by ZGO sangha members and others affiliated with Zen Garland will be added to the calendar. Administrators who are not logged into the site will be asked for their name and email.

Please give your event a Title (event name) that is clear and relevant and a Description that will help visitors who are unfamiliar with ZGO (or Zen) know what the event is about.

If a drop-down field doesn’t have the information you want to select, please add that information to the Description field.

If an event spans multiple days please create it for the first day (set the Start Date and End Date to the first day’s date) and then use the Recurring Event checkbox to open up the options for adding the subsequent days.

Clicking the All-day Event checkbox removes the Start Time and End Time fields and you will not be able to enter that information. If you want to enter the times but do not want them to show in the event listing, use the Hide times checkboxes. You can also add a note regarding the times, but do keep the note brief.

The Hourly Schedule is used for events that have a set schedule that you want to inform people of before they register for the event. It is not necessary to provide this information. Hourly Schedules can be added for single-day and multiple-day events.

The Note to Reviewer field is for any special information that you want the reviewer to see that should not be part of the event listing.

If you have a registration link (e.g. an EventBrite event), please put the link in the Event Link field.

PLEASE NOTE: You do not have to fill out all the fields. If you prefer to simply put all the details for the event in the description field the events moderators can finish the event set-up before publishing the event.
