Online lecture and discussion
A workshop for super seniors, people with terminal illness and young folks interested in widening their awareness.
With Grandfather Shoko Sings-Alone, Roshi, Founder of Zen Garland’s Red Path Zen Hermitage.
Roshi Shoko offers a checklist of preparations from a personal and from a legal perspective as crucial parts of a peaceful dying process.
The taboo of death is lifted in this global pandemic. The emphasis of this course is to talk about our personal, intimate ideas about death and this final phase of our lives. How do we own it and make it ours?
How do we experience the Self as a constantly changing bundle of consciousness, that continues through death without the encumbrance of a physical body?
Roshi Shoko will illuminate this topic with stories and personal experiences with dying, from the perspective of his Red Path Native practice as a medicine person, who has had interactions with the dead, and from his long practice as a Zen Priest and teacher, who has cared for and accompanied many people through the threshold of illness and death. How do we experience the Self as a constantly changing bundle of consciousness, that continues through death without the encumbrance of a physical body? Does this bundle of consciousness stay close?
