This online, on-demand course introduces students to the Platform Sutra.
Composed sometime between the 8th and 13th centuries in China, the Platform Sutra includes stories and teachings attributed to the 6th Zen Patriarch, Huineng. Themes presented within this Sutra as well as the nature of Huineng and his role in establishing Zen are explored, including several key ideas presented in this work such as dealing with direct perception of true nature and the interconnections and interdependence of sila, dhayana, and prajna.
All recorded lecture content and discussion sessions, as well as all additional materials provided during the original presentation of this course, are included in the on-demand course. Access to the instructor is also provided for questions and clarification of topics.
