INNER RELATIONSHIP FOCUSING LEVEL I
Prerequisite: Pre-class Guided Focusing Session with Instructor

(*plus $16 for The Focusing Student’s and Companion’s Manual, Part One, by Ann Weiser Cornell & Barbara McGavin. This Manual is used in both Level 1 and Level 2.)
Here’s what happens in Focusing Level One:
- You learn the remarkable ability to be in Presence with your feelings rather than ping-ponging between reacting from those feelings or suppressing them.
- You learn how to access the rich personal wisdom held in your own body.
- You learn to combine these two crucial skills into a powerful process that catalyzes inner transformation.
- You become more trusting of yourself and your inner wisdom.
- You learn how to provide peer support to someone else as they facilitate their own process.
- Although this work is done with a companion, you can express your feelings and process without revealing its content to your companion if you wish. Personal boundaries are a crucial part of the Focusing process.
IMPORTANT! There is a Prerequisite:
You need to have had at least one individual Inner Relationship Focusing session with Jocelyn (or any Inner Relationship Focusing teacher) before the first class meeting. There is no extra charge for this. It can be done in-person or over the phone.
Class Structure
Classes are 2-1/2 hours each. They consist of some combination of guided or experiential exercises, lectures, plenty of time for questions, demonstrations, and one-to-one practice with other students in peer partnership Focusing sessions. In between classes, assigned pairs of students practice the aspects of Focusing that we learned in the previous class. Classes are recorded so students can listen later if desired. There are only five sessions, and each one is chock-full of learning! Therefore, each student is allowed only one absence if he or she wishes to proceed to the next level.

There are four levels of Focusing:
- Level 1: The goal of Level 1 is to give you the basics of Focusing and the ability to Focus in a peer partnership. Even if you go no further, you will have the invaluable tools of skillful reflecting and of presence language.
- Level 2: The emphasis here is on increasing and fine-tuning your skills in being a nurturing companion to the Focusing process, whether to another person’s or to your own. You will have a thorough basic grounding in peer partnership Focusing once you have completed this level.
- Level 3: This workshop introduces you to the ability to guide your partner (at their request) – and yourself – gracefully through each stage of the Focusing process within the context of a peer partnership.
- Level 4: You extend your peer partnership Focusing skills to being able to facilitate the Focusing process when it seems to be blocked. You experience the IRF principle of the Radical Acceptance of Everything within your inner world!

Class size is limited, and we only know for certain that a person is coming when they have paid. Therefore, your registration will be held four days after we receive your registration form. If we have not received payment by then, you will lose your place. So please pay promptly!
Refund Policy
You can receive a full refund up to the day before class begins. You can receive credit for another Zen Garland class up to and including the day of the first class only.
