Tuesdays 8:30am to 10am: Zen Meditation, Personal Interviews, and a Dharma Talk.
First Saturdays of the month beginning August 5, 2017:
9am to 11am. Zen Meditation, Personal Interviews, and a Dharma Talk.
The core of Zen training for spiritual development is an intimate relationship with a Zen Teacher. Rev. Cathleen has been a practicing Buddhist for 40 years, and has had a lifelong devotion to Jesus of Narareth as her guiding model.
Roshi Paul Genki Kahn and Roshi Ann Ankai Wagner, two of the Founders of Zen Garland, have empowered Rev. Cathleen to open Running Flowers Zen Community.
Zen practice offers sound path for spiritual development centered on the very elements of our existence: how we relate to our self and others, how we work and play, how we deal with the stress and flow of the myriad occurrences of daily life.
At Running Flowers we follow the six core practices of the Zen Garland Way: Working with a Zen Teacher, Zen Meditation, Embodiment, Zen Focusing for Emotional Integration, Text Study, and Service as a way of being.
Through this holistic approach we gradually settle down in body and mind, discover BodyMind Consciousness, and begin koan practice that can lead to an awakening experience of the deep unity of all creation. Further training then helps refine our ability to live in a spirit of unity, see more deeply into its dimensions, and gain the wisdom and compassion to share this life skillfully.
Zen Garland teachers are people who practice Zen and work to know themselves deeply and work ceaselessly for their own maturation and ability to share themselves with others. Rev. Cathleen has proven herself such a person through decades of work within the Buddhist world, her work as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse, licensed Acupuncturist and counselor. She is marked by her authenticity, her appreciation and continuing wonder for the world and her generosity to others.
“From early in my life I wanted to find what is true for every human being. We all live and die, need food and shelter. What I have found that is common and unique is that we each need to be able to feel loved, and able to give love.”
